JOB TITLE:
Transport Planner





REPORTS TO:
Senior Planner


PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

Reporting to the Senior Planner, this key role is integral to the smooth operation of the fleet.

This role assists the Senior Planner to own the planning function for the company ensuring delivery and/or collection for all orders across the network in the most efficient way, taking into account schedules, costs, vehicle/driver availability, driving limits, working time directive and health and safety.

Ensuring all KPI measures and key tasks are continually met and exceeded.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Responsible for finding backloads on platforms.
  • Accountable for all aspects of multidrop planning around the UK, on a day 1 for day 2 basis of the company operation.
  • Delivery of customer expectations.
  • Optimisation of both vehicle and driver resources to affect the plan in the most costeffective manner.
  • Ensure timed deliveries are planned accordingly.
  • Plan the activity of drivers ensuring the achievement of productivity is within the driving limits
  • Work closely with the warehouse team to ensure outbound loads are configured correctly and ready on time.
  • Work closely with customers through regular communication and updates regarding the status of the daily transport plan.
  • Support the Senior Planner with fleet and driver compliance including accident reporting and investigations.
  • Ensure that effective communication processes are in place to promote the regular and effective communication to the team of all planning matters.
  • Perform any other reasonable request.


  • Systems Expert

  • Paragon, RoadRunner, Microsoft Office.

General

  • Ensure the high level of Health, safety and welfare of all, self, and others through adherence to the Health and Safety statement and policy.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:


  • Experienced Transport Planner with good knowledge of systems
    Paragon and
    RoadRunner:
  • Previous logistics/transport planning experience within a
    busy fast-paced distribution environment

Essential - knowledge of planning
multi-drop deliveries and collections using a variety of different sized vehicles

Excellent geographical knowledge of the UK:

  • Good understanding of vehicle capacities
  • Full understanding of tachograph legislation, driving limits and work time directive
  • Takes ownership for own performance
  • Able to work to time sensitive deadlines and prioritise work
  • Understands a target driven environment
  • Excellent numeracy, spoken and written communication skills
  • Strong IT skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, Transport Management/Planning Systems)

HOURS OF WORK:
Monday to Friday - 09:00 - 17:00


SALARY:
£28, ,000 DOE


HOLIDAY:20 days holiday plus bank holidays. This increases to a maximum of 25 days plus bank holidays based on length of service.


TRAINING:
Initial Training will be provided by the Senior Planner


HEALTH & SAFETY:
No current issues to report on site
