Walsall Healthcare Digital Services are looking to appoint an experienced, and enthusiastic Head of Digital Data Management to lead the Digital Data portfolio for the trust.

The Digital Data portfolio comprises the Development and Integration, Data Solutions, Application Support and Data Quality teams.

The role requires a balance of technical expertise and experience of delivering Application, Data and Development functions aligned to excellent leadership, interpersonal and management skills.

Main duties include....

  • Leading and delivering a firstclass Digital Data Service
  • Lead and manage all teams that are responsible for provision and support of the Digital Data portfolio (Development and Integration, Data Solutions, Application Support and Data Quality)
  • Create, review and manage processes to ensure they are effective, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Provide leadership, ownership and accountability for Digital Data portfolio, ensuring that an effective and optimised service is delivered and industry best practice is followed.
  • Act as a bridge between the Digital Data technical teams and the wider organisation.
  • Strategic planning of future requirements


Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust provides a first class integrated acute and community healthcare service within the West Midlands serving a population of 260,000 residents.

IT services are provided to multiple acute and community locations, primary care services with Walsall, and Black Country and West Birmingham ICB.


  • To oversee the management of the following Teams
  • Development and Integration
  • Data Solutions
  • Application Support
  • Data Quality
  • Engage key stakeholders in developing requirements for a range of new, upgraded, and existing solutions, providing seamless integration and availability where possible
  • To work towards a strategy of providing the right information, to the right role, at the right time.
  • Provide guidance to users in formulating system software requirements and advise on choices/alternatives and on advantages/implications of new or revised solutions.
  • To be accountable for the software release and deployment processes in line with best practice methodology
  • Undertake the role of lead developer on the department's system development projects, coordinating project tasks and delegating project work and support staff as appropriate.
  • To Lead the decision making for change requests relating to Clinical Systems
  • Accountable for the Data Quality Team and the provision of the Data Quality Function
