Job objectives and responsibilities

  • To provide management and support to identified Contract(s) in a professional way to ensure that the contract(s) operate efficiently and effectively to achieve and maintain full contractual compliance.
  • Provide support to the Operations Manager, Admin Team and Director in the management and delivery of contractual obligations and client expectations for the identified Contract(s).
  • To provide technical support in the pricing and management stages, and delivery of contracts.

Main duties
-
Inspection and Assessment: Conducting thorough inspections of fire doors to ensure they comply with relevant regulations and standards.

Identifying Deficiencies: Identifying any deficiencies or faults in fire doors, frames, hardware, and associated components that may compromise their effectiveness in containing fire and smoke.

Documentation: Documenting findings from inspections, including noting deficiencies, recommendations for improvements or repairs, and compliance status.
-
Risk Assessment: Conducting risk assessments to evaluate the potential impact of deficiencies in fire doors on building occupants and property in the event of a fire.
-
Reporting: Compiling comprehensive reports detailing the condition of fire doors, any non-compliance issues, and recommended actions to rectify deficiencies.

Advisory Role: Providing guidance and advice to building owners, managers, and other stakeholders on fire door maintenance, repair, and replacement strategies to ensure compliance with fire safety regulations.

Collaboration: Collaborating with other professionals, such as architects, engineers, and fire safety officers, to ensure that fire door installations and maintenance meet regulatory requirements and safety standards.

Education and Training: Conducting educational sessions or training programs for building occupants and maintenance staff on the importance of fire door safety and proper maintenance procedures.

Keeping Up-to
  • Date: Staying informed about changes in fire safety regulations, industry standards, and best practices to ensure that inspections and assessments remain current and effective.

Person Specification

  • A good general education with a relevant qualification aligned to Fire Protection, and a demonstrable record of continuous personal development within the industry. Knowledge and experience of Fire Door surveying and Fire Stopping is a must.
  • CSCS, SMSTS and PASMA.
  • Preferably FIRAS accredited
  • Ability to quickly build credible relationships with a management team and clients, and challenge when necessary.
  • Sound relationship, management and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work on own initiative and to drive improvement and change as necessary.
  • Problem solving and decision making.
  • PC literate with Excel and Word skills.
  • The post holder must have a clean driving licence as travel between various sites and meetings off site will be a necessary part of the role.

Health and Safety responsibilities

  • Follow Group and company policies and procedures at all times;
  • Report any apparent deficiencies in systems of work or equipment provided that may result in failure of service delivery or risk to health and safety or the environment;
  • Use all work equipment and personal PPE properly and in accordance with training received;
  • Report any issues or training needs to your Line manager and /or via your divisional incident reporting system;
