Job summary
We're seeking a Consultant Stroke Physician to become part of our evolving stroke department at North Bristol NHS Trust to contribute to the growth and strategic development of our services.We deliver the highest number of thrombectomies in the UK.
The successful candidate will have responsibilities that include supporting the delivery of acute services, involvement in Mon-Fri transient ischaemic attack (TIA) clinics, and handling ward referrals at the Bristol Royal Infirmary.

Responsibilities
- management of acute admissions - thrombolysis and thrombectomy.
- supervising the care of all patients in HASU and ASU, along with colleagues providing continuity of care for patients.
- providing bi-weekly Consultant level input to patients cared for in the SSARU's at South Bristol Community Hospital or Weston General Hospital.
- delivery of TIA (at Bristol Royal Infirmary) / neurovascular outpatient clinics.
Qualifications
- MRCP or equivalent
- Maintain Full registration with the GMC
- GMC Specialist Register at the time of the appointment
Skills
- Recent experience and familiarity of UK hospital systems and practices (or equivalent)
- Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required to gain UK CCT in General and Geriatric Medicine or Neurology or Acute Medicine
- Training in diagnosis and treatment of cerebrovascular conditions
Desired requirements
- Ability to lead a team and form effective working relationships
- Ability to work independently as well as part of the Neuroscience Directorate / team
- Good verbal and written communication skills - with colleagues, staff at all levels and patients
