Description

This post will provide a specialist service within CAMHS to young people and their families within the Emotional and Behavioural Team with additional sessions attached to the Youth Zones in Newham CAMHS.


These is a community-based session, located within Newham CAMHS offering flexible, evidence-based episodes of care, assessments and treatment to a wide variety of clinical presentations, and direct work in the Youth Zones in Newham.


Emotional and Behavioural Team (E&B),which provides a CAMHS service for young people with a wide variety of mood, anxiety and difficulties with managing behavioural expectations.

There is a broad range of therapy groups offered and the post holder would be supported and encouraged to develop skills in group work, alongside individual clinical work.


  • Clinical Responsibilities


1.1 To provide comprehensive specialist assessments including risk assessments of young people and their families/carers referred with learning disability and /or autism spectrum disorders; or ADHD or emotional and behavioural difficulties.


1.2 To provide telephone and/or face-to-face triage assessments of new referrals, contact clients within a standard timeframe and signpost to the appropriate service within or outside of CAMHS.


1.3 To provide consultation and where appropriate training to other professionals who come into contact with children, young people and their families/carers referred with moderate, complex and severe mental health problems.


1.4 To write confidential reports for court, case conferences, and education that may have wide ranging implications for children, young people and their families.

1.5 Based on these assessments and reports to convey sensitive, complex and sometimes unwelcome information to clients and other professionals and manage this as

The Youth Zoneswork includes consultation to youth workers, working collaboratively with young people attending the service, and taking a community psychology and co-production approach.

The post holder will directly contribute to the positive working environment within the multi-disciplinary team.

The post holder will require a high degree of professional autonomy and self-management, and will be required to account for their professional practice through appraisal and audit.
