Imperial Recruitment are currently recruiting exclusively for a high-profile global client who are looking to appoint a Mechanical Workshop Supervisor for their Hartlepool site.


Job Purpose


To lead the Workshop mechanical team in the safe execution of maintaining & overhauling various key plant and site equipment, ensuring equipment is maintained in line with site specifications and Quality Build Plans and that priorities are addressed, and deadlines met efficiently.

Working closely with site teams, service contractors and suppliers to ensure the necessary equipment is available as and when needed.

Ensuring the information in SAP is consistent with the stores inventory. Provide support for plant PM Events. This role will deputize for the Workshop and Stores Manager, when required.


Responsibilities

  • Always perform all duties in compliance, business conduct policies, guidelines and the local site Life Saving Rules. Complete all Corporate Compliance training.
  • Responsible person for all mechanical engineering activities within the Workshop area, ensuring strict adherence to legislative, group and site safety, engineering and quality standards.
  • Responsible for all mechanical engineering work within the Workshop area to ensure adherence to agreed targets for time and cost.
  • Responsible for controlling all modifications and changes through the Management of Change process, in compliance with site standards and current legislation.
  • Analysis of plant equipment breakdowns, with input to providing solutions for issues.
  • Responsible for the prioritisation of reactive, emergent work requested by plant teams.
  • Accountable for the issuing of work permit within the area of his/her accountability, as required, and ensure full understanding by all team members involved in the task prior to permit issue.
  • Responsible Task Lead, as required, taking overall responsibility for transient and core contractors.
  • Supervise team members in an effective and professional manner. Manage the preparation and control of thirdparty services during execution of work.
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of a new L2 team to install overhauled equipment into plant, ensuring a Maintenance Installation Plan is available and adhered to.
  • Oversee tasks to completion and assist where necessary to ensure safe completion of the task.
  • Monitor task progress and provide relevant and uptodate progress reports on current activities. Generate and maintain a culture of continuous improvement among team members.
  • Build relationships with the site teams and be visible in the field.
  • Liaise with Plant, Stores, and Purchasing teams to ensure plant and equipment is overhauled in line with requirements.
  • Responsible that all mechanical equipment is overhauled in line with the Quality Build Plan with all relevant checks and signoffs completed.
  • Regular communication with management teams to provide clear and frequent updates.
  • Update plant and equipment tracking systems to reflect status.
  • Track, monitor, and update the status of equipment and materials using the CMMS system (SAP), ensuring all quality documentation is completed and available.
  • Develop, review & produce JSA's.
  • Lead the team daily Safety Cross and use the Zero Harm tools. Actively encourage team participation and contribution.
  • Undertake Process Confirmations as per schedule.
  • Deliver toolbox talks as required (maybe contractor requirement).
  • Assist with disciplinary and attendance management where required.
  • Ensure high housekeeping standards are achieved and maintained.

Requirements:


  • Supervisory qualification to NVQ level 3/4 and experience in Front-Line management.
  • Experience of leading and engaging with a team.
  • Have a strong mechanical equipment background, including rotating equipment, valves, and conveying systems.
  • Be able to read engineering drawings and to communicate this to the workforce.
  • Have experience in production planning and be able to organize the Workshop to meet these plans.
