We host workshops and sessions aimed at ensuring education is more diverse and that Black children can see and learn about their unique and important history

Your Role and Key Responsibilities
The Project Coordinator has oversight over all running projects and the responsibility to expand them.

This role comes with managerial tasks such as liaising with all different BLAM workers, among them the racial wellness coordinator, the youth advocacy workers and youth project workers.

This includes creating task lists, reviewing their work as well as guiding activities on Black history education, youth advocacy and the Zuri therapy project.


With regards to external communication, the Project Coordinator will also be strategically planning and overseeing BLAM's social media, reviewing external communication and publications such as podcast episodes and posts.

They will also deliver sessions on Black history topics on a regular basis to young people in schools and support in teacher training.


Person Specification
We are looking for someone who can take initiative and responsibility for our different Programmes. Through organizing, coordinating, developing and keeping up and reviewing the projects.

The will include tasks like but not limited to; proofreading other peoples' work for correctness and editing, being comfortable speaking and presenting Black history topics in an engaging manner for mostly young audiences, leading and delivering our training workshops to schools and practitioners.

An active interest in Black history, the Black global diaspora experience and politics as well as anti-racism is what drives us at BLAM.


Requirements:


  • Ability to travel to schools around London
  • You must be confident in public speaking
  • You must have a DBS Certificate
  • A background in youth work, history, curation, teaching, or a track record of working with young people ages 81
  • Must have an interest in Black History, culture and Black archives
  • Must have previous project management experience
  • Must be wellversed in using Canva and Google Drive
  • Happy to work as a freelancer/selfemployed person
