L3Harris in Tewkesbury and Fleet are part of our ICI division, we work closely with UK Government and Security Agencies primarily in the areas of crypto/cyber security, electronic warfare, counter drone capabilities and situation awareness projects.


About the role:


As the Head of Capture, you will be responsible for the leadership of our Capture Team and pursue activity for Campaigns, Pursuits, Bids and the wider support to the Sales & BD teams to deliver successful winning business activities.

You will seek opportunities to closely liaise with various stakeholder communities and work in conjunction with the Opportunity Owner, lead, manage, plan, and formulate winning capture strategies, and obtain the resources necessary to execute and pursue the specific campaigns, strategic pursuits, and detailed capture plans.

The Head of Capture will direct proposal development activities and provide leadership and guidance to the proposal team.

You will develop detailed proposal delivery plans where required, create and track schedules and budgets and report status when required to senior management for key opportunities.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Support the production of annual AOP and JSP planning in support of growth planning and other strategic objectives.
  • Direct and manage the capture process for assigned pursuit(s), to include the development and coordination of Win Strategies and support WINBUS activities.
  • Formulate and establish external teaming, partnering and subcontractor arrangements to include identifying, selecting and recruiting team members & suppliers that increase bid posture and overall P(Win).
  • Identify required industrial strategies to increase P(Win), that include consideration of incountry workshare, offset, georeturns and stakeholder influence. Supporting the Sales & BD CDR plan, development and growth activity to provide increased P(Win).
  • Lead the creation, management and distribution of targeted indepth information and analysis of assigned opportunities and competitive positions
  • Engage and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure alignment with L3Harris strategic national and international objectives, including the production of engagement plans.
  • Generate, update and communicate the opportunityspecific Capture Plan, including actiontracking / closure, including formal gate reviews and pursuit updates.
  • Lead and develop the team with a focus on collaborative working, social values and other key customer themes and focus areas.
  • Compile Lessons Learned Reports following completion of proposal activities, to assist in future planning and problem solving.
  • Develop metrics for determining return on investment on opportunities, and Campaign effectiveness.
  • Lead and support applicable continuous improvement projects to further develop and enhance professional Capture Management for business success.
  • Ensure that all business activity is conducted in line with company values, policies and ethics codes of conduct.
  • Undertake any other activity as reasonably requested by management.

Essential Skills:


  • Extensive experience in Senior Business Development and Capture roles for opportunities over £10M within the defence and security sector.
  • Proven ability to lead complex teams consisting of matrix support in order to successfully prosecute strategic opportunities.
  • The ability to build effective working relationships and communicate concisely and appropriately with all stakeholders.
  • An accomplished sales/business developer who understands business development, capture, project management, contracts and proposal developments linked to customer requirements.
  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent with practical experience of Miller Heiman and Shipley Sales & Bid
