Job Summary


Our School and Community Outreach Officer will oversee the administration of our outreach programmes for ages - 14, introducing the importance of trees and forestry to the next generation.

Our Teaching Trees programme has been reaching children across England and Wales for over 20 years and is at an exciting point in its development as we explore new ways to reach children with our core messages.


Come and join our friendly and dedicated team at our RFS Headquarters near to Banbury, Oxfordshire and play your part to help protect trees and woodlands in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.


Location
The Royal Forestry Society, The Hay Barns, Home Farm Drive, Upton Estate, Banbury, OX15 6HU.


Salary
Part-time, 21 hours (3 days) a week; £14,000 (equivalent to £23,300 FTE)


Reporting to
Learning and Outreach Manager


About the RFS

Responsibilities and Duties
As our School and Community Outreach Officer, you will be responsible for overseeing the administration of our programmes for ages Core activities, are described below:

  • Be a 'first point of contact' for our team of Freelance Education Officers.
  • Track and report on the work of our Teaching Trees programme, including collecting evaluations from participants.
  • Work with the Communications team to market the opportunities available through the RFS.
  • Answer public enquiries about out Junior Forester Award and assist with registrations.
  • Maintain the Schools pages of our website.

Essential characteristics

  • A commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion and a desire to reach young people from all backgrounds and communities.
  • You must be personable, positive, and capable of developing good professional relationships with our Education team, schools and partner organisations.
  • A solutionsfocused approach and excellent problemsolving skills.

Essential Skills

  • Excellent attention to detail in both written communication and spreadsheets.

Desirable

  • Experience of working in Forest Education or in schools.
  • A proven track record as an administrator.
  • A full UK driving licence and the confidence to drive to any location in England and Wales.

Job Types:

Part-time hours: 21 per week

£14,000.00 per year
