Description
SLR has an exciting opportunity for an experienced flood risk practitioner/engineer to join its busy water team in Scotland.

  • This position presents an outstanding opportunity to join a large team of drainage and flood management engineers and hydrologists and be part of a wider group which also comprises hydrogeologists, geomorphologists and geochemists. Services and sectors within which the team operate (Power, Mining, Residential and Commercial Development and Infrastructure) are key areas of growth for the business.

About the role:


  • Duties will include the following:
  • overseeing and hands-on flood and drainage modelling;
- preparing outline and detailed SuDS designs to support planning processes;
- managing and taking responsibility for the delivery of flood and drainage management projects; and
- training and mentoring junior members of the team.


About You:


We'd expect you to have a recognised academic qualification in civil and/or environmental engineering, and a demonstrable track record delivering flood risk assessments and drainage designs using industry standard approaches and software packages.

A good understanding of UK hydrological techniques and hydraulic modelling experience is required.

  • Ideally you would be able to demonstrate:
  • A relevant civil and/or environmental engineering background (HNC, HND, BEng, MEng) or equivalent;
  • Experience in flood modelling, flood risk assessment or drainage studies;
  • Professional and can communicate effectively;
  • Can think analytically, reframe problems and identify solutions;
  • Can work as part of a team and on own initiative;
  • Comfortable with client interaction and managing competing demands;
  • Build strong, lasting relationships with others;
  • Effective at managing their time and has a "can do" attitude; and
  • Hold a full, current driving licence valid in the UK.
