Full-time 3 month contract (PAYE)

Mon - Thurs: 7.30am - 4.40pm & Fri: 7.30am pm

My client is a well-established engineering business who have built up a brilliant reputation of designing and manufacturing high quality steering systems.

The role would involve purchasing a variety of raw of materials and components to ensure timely productionand continuous availability.

Make sure that the parts meet the cost and quality requirements, as well as ensuring that the procurement process is documented correctly.

The buyer will be tasked with ensuring that all supplier contracts/orders meet the standards of the Company's policies and procedures, along with achieving and maintaining customer satisfaction.

Ensure all supplier contracts meet the standards of the company's policies and procedures
Make sure that cost down targets are met within the supplier base in line with objectives
Obtain supplier quotations and indepth cost analysis to support resource or sales activities
Ensure effective interfacing with all areas, particularly Production Planning and Estimating
Develop and maintain professional working relationships with suppliers in line with their strategic importance to the company
Negotiate contracts, contract modifications and service level agreements with key suppliers and ensure timely communications as required
Adhere to and work within the contract conditions and be fully aware of the increasing need for commercial awareness
Arrange and secure support from within the company to meet the customers' requirements
Develop, manage, and provide concise status reports and KPIs monthly
Provide Purchasing support for special projects as required
Keep on top of the Monitor the financial relationship with key suppliers
Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with the Company's quality and environmental standards

Qualifications/ Skills/ Experience:

Hold a BTEC HNC/HND or degree in relevant discipline
Will hold a CIPS qualification or equivalent experience
Will have previous purchasing experience working in a engineering/ manufacturing environment Previous purchasing experience in an engineering / manufacturing environment is essential/.
Knowledge of SQA's is essential
