_Exciting new opportunity for a Care Assistant to join our team to look after a young lady with complex care needs in her own home._
Our position is to look after a client in their 20s in Herne Bay who requires 1:1 24hour care.

The client is non-verbal, communicates via Makaton and has complex care needs including:

  • PEG
  • Central Line Feed
  • Mitrofanoff Catheter
  • Ileostomy Stoma
  • Behaviours that may Challenge
  • Altered States of Consciousness
Any previous experience managing these complex needs is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided.

We are looking for Care Assistant to spend waking nights (8pm - 8am) with this client to:

Responsibilities of the Care Assistant would include:

  • Monitor central line connection and ensure feeding is running as per-scribed.
  • Monitor urinary output overnight and empty night bag as required and remove catheter during morning personal care before getting up.
  • Monitor and empty Ileostomy bag every 2 hours.
  • Provide Pressure area care every 2 hours due to poor peripheral circulation and low BMI / weight.
  • Maintain semi upright position to prevent aspiration in event of retching / vomiting.
  • Provide personal care if/when required.
  • Monitor leg cramps and pain and administers as required pain relief via peg or orally as prescribed.
  • Provide emotional reassurance and support overnight.
  • Enthusiastic in providing best care
  • Ready to engage with the client throughout the night as she doesn't sleep much and requires lots of interaction to keep her entertained
  • Professional with team members and family
