FLEXIBLE WORKING

WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS


The Product Professional supports product development processes and projects throughout BT Group, assisting the implementation and maximal impact of company product strategies, product management, user experience (UX), software engineering, and analysis across multiple product lines.


THE ROLE
The roleholder will be responsible for Media & Broadcasts Connect Product sets.

These product include; Switch Connect, Europes largest content exchange where thousands of hours of live content is shared across the broadcast industry; and Virtual Media Connect, an internet delivery gateway for sharing Media content to/from our network anywhere around the world and Cloud Connect, which is M&B's most recent development to enable ground to cloud connectivity and content sharing.


The roleholder will lead the strategic thinking for how M&B can enable thier customers to share content anywhere in the world, in the simplest way.

The role holder will work on creative solutions and product development that enable the sharing of content and promotion of community across M&B's products.


The roleholder will be responsible for developing a repeatable, reliable and market leading product set for both our UK and Global Media Customers.

The role will include developing the product, working with go to market and propositions team to launch new capabilities, inlife management and close collaboration with the sales teams and customers to evangelise the product and its capablities.

The roleholder will be accountable for the financial and business performance of this group of products and services.


Your accountabilities

  • Owning the business case for product development and the P&L for inlife products
  • Responsible for leading, developing and managing the products to optimise long run contribution over the product life cycles
  • Owning the product plan, price, pricing strategy, development budget and road map
  • Responsible for setting direction and working as part of a virtual team across the business
  • Responsible for strategic alignment, planning, budgeting, investment and cost control
  • Developing relationships with industry at the appropriate influencing level.
  • Recognised authority on all areas of Product Group across the organisation and externally.

Skills

Product lifecycle management: product lifecycle management skills, able to quickly build and assess new concepts as well as managing in life developments

Customer empathy: able to understand and translate technical requirements into business outcomes to solve business problems. Championing the customer needs to provide business value

Business and commercial acumen: Strong business and commercial experience including detailed understanding P&L management; able to build compelling business cases based on customer and data driven insights and assumptions

Financial Management: P&L management; managing all aspects of the revenue and costs line and ownership directing the cost base to optimise business performance.

Stakeholder Management: ability to build and sustain productive relationships at all levels of an organisation to Director and exCo level.


Experience

  • Understanding of Media & Broadcast workflows
  • An understanding of how Media services are contributed and distributed across Media Networks, the internet and the Cloud.
  • Previous experience of managing products
  • Proven stakeholder management, ability to deliver results in complex environments.
  • Commercial acumen to deliver mutually beneficial outcomes includes financial and P&L management
  • Strong planning and technical skills with the ability to achieve mutually satisfying outcomes for BT and its customers.
