This role is a combination of being office based as well as being present in our properties to truly work in partnership with the people team.

This is NOT a traditional HR role, its a values driven role of People before policy. This is essential to this role.

Youll be someone we can count on to:

Own

  • Being able to build long lasting trustbased relationships. We want our team members and managers to proactively seek out advice and guidance.

We want the People Team to enable the business, to make life as easy as possible for our Operational and HQ teams to be able to do their jobs.


  • Youll support our People Partners in managing relationships with operational and HQ teams ensuring all 1st line queries are answered or escalated.
  • Being the best at HR record management and maintaining this to a high standard. Youll undertake routine management reports, dashboards for distribution to line managers and the wider People team.

Teach

  • Youll champion our initiatives, policies, values and standards and assist in delivering excellent customer service on a range of People queries, providing solutions and advice in a timely manner.
  • Support managers to really give the Best Start Ever for our team members. Youll ensure that we are fully compliant, and each person is greeted with a friendly, supportive and unique joining experience.
  • People over policy is vital. Youll be working with our line managers to ensure that we are creative in the way we work and that we have exhausted all opportunities before we explore formal ways of working.

Learn

  • Taking an invested interest into what Student Roost does and what we want to achieve.
  • Youll play a key role in supporting delivering people focused initiatives. This will include supporting our exciting projects.
  • Committing to growth and constantly turning to external resources to understand the bigger picture and new ways of doing things.
This will help create a progressive People Team and a non-bureaucratic approach to HR.

Improve

  • Support in creating an environment where conflict and sensitive People situations are managed professionally and confidentiality.

Being at your best and adapting your style of communicating to deliver to the audience to build trust and confidence.


  • Searching for new opportunities through reviewing our current processes and adding value to the way we operate. Youll identify new opportunities to streamline the way we work by making better use of our People system, intranet page and corporate website to improve experiences for line managers and team members.

Collaborate

  • Coordinate all first line payroll checks, bringing to light any queries to the People Partners.
  • You will have a front row seat for this. Working with the People Partners, youll be a critical support role for the wide range of work we need to undertake. From supporting with daytoday team member queries, through to sharing your thoughts on the strategic work, to determine what type of employer we want to be we can promise at the very least itll be a varied role where no two days are the same.

-Sometimes we need to take a step back and really reflect on whats not important to focus too heavily on.

Managing the fine line between acting with compassion and not taking things to heart.

This isnt just the ability to bounce back from setbacks but its also the ability to learn from the experience and using it to help with transformational growth.


Knowing Your Limits Sometimes we need to reflect on our area of expertise, and know when is the right time to bring in support from the wider People Team.

Youll want to proactively support and collaborate with all the Operational Managers, but there are times when youll need to have the courage to take a step away.

Its not easy to have the confidence to say were out of our depth sometimes, so the role of the People Coordinator requires determination, confidence and courage.
