An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Nurse / ODP with strong clinical skills to join the Thoracic and Upper GI Theatre team based at Nottingham University Hospitals City Campus.
The Thoracic & UGI team are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and experienced Robotic Assistant Deputy Team Leader to support the current team in managing the service as the robotic surgery programme continues to develop across both specialties.
As a registered theatre practitioner you will be able to demonstrate continued professional development, an understanding of change processes and current challenges within perioperative practice at NUH.
You will also have the responsibility to act as a Deputy Team Leader within the Thoracic Theatre team.Main duties of the job

Your communication skills will be excellent and you will be able to demonstrate how you establish effective working relationships.
You will also be able to demonstrate an ability to engage and enthuse staff and students in the perioperative environment and have the drive and motivation to continually develop the robotic surgery service alongside the surgical team.
You will need to demonstrate an excellent knowledge of the speciality, have a minimum of 4 years theatre experience and have a minimum of 2 years Thoracic and/or Upper GI experience, including laparoscopic and robot-assisted surgery.
A First Assistant / Advanced Surgical Practitioner qualification and experience are essential and you will also be able to provide evidence of formal training in basic surgical techniques.
The successful applicant will be required to work flexibly alongside the Upper GI team to support and develop their robotic surgery service.

To support the surgical team by acting as the first assistant to the surgeon for robot-assisted surgical procedures.
To support and deputise for the Team Leader, taking managerial, clinical and professional responsibility for a team of practitioners.
To facilitate efficient and effective care and communication between the multi-disciplinary team and between surgical specialities.
To support staff, ensuring the provision of high quality holistic patient care in the most efficient and safe manner in accordance with Divisional and Hospital policies and procedures.

Essential criteria
- Is able to coordinate the clinical area in order to meet patient needs
- Is aware of strategies relating to clinical governance and infection prevention

- Current level 1 NMC Registration or HPC Registration Part 1
- Posession of Mentoring Course or equivelant teaching qualification.

- An Advanced Surgical Practitioner Qualification or equivalent.
- Experience / Certificate in Robotic Surgery Certificate

Salary:
The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
