Have you heard about the chance to become a Career Navigator for Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire (BSW) NHS Integrated Care Board (ICB)?


BSW ICB is recruiting a team of Legacy Mentors and Career Navigators to support the development of our nursing workforce in all health and care settings.

You will be part of this newly recruited team.


The role of the Career Navigator is to ensure that qualified nurses, midwives, AHPs and those in other clinical roles in BSW ICB can access quality career conversations to identify their potential at all stages of their career.

This will include providing individual tailored support to develop clear, capability-focused career paths for these staff to understand the career pathways available to achieve their route to success.


It is a fantastic opportunity to support our nursing workforce at all stages of their career, in particular mid careers within the Bath healthcare locality.


You will work in collaboration with the Talent Manager for Nursing and Midwifery, Learning and Development Leads and Clinicians across the Health and Social Care sector for Bath, together with organisational teams and external training providers across the BSW System.


A key outcome measure for this post will be the ability to retain the skills of our existing nurses within the BSW Health and Social Care sectors.


As well as excellent personal and communication skills, you will have a keen desire to support staff retention across the Health and Social Care sectors.

Empathy, ability to build a strong rapport with a range of stakeholders, resilience and interpersonal skills are all needed to successfully support individuals through career transitions.

The role is a one-year fixed term contract, with secondments and flexible working considered and will be based at Royal University Hospital Bath.

BSW ICB have adopted agile working so this means the successful applicant will predominately be working from home but may be requested to work in any one of the ICB's office bases across BaNES, Swindon and Wiltshire.

You will also have a contractual base within the BSW ICB office where your team is based.

This role will work within the BSW System and report to the Lead Legacy Mentor.


The role of the Career Navigator is to ensure that the BSW System nursing workforce is enabled to access quality career conversations to identify their potential.


This will include providing individual tailored coaching to staff to ensure they are fulfilled and in control of their careers.

Individuals accessing the service may include those who are newly entering the profession, to those seeking a change or to those who are considering leaving the Health and Social Care sector.


A key outcome measure for this post will be the ability to retain the skills of our existing staff within BSW Health and Social Care sectors.


There is a requirement for excellent personal and communication skills and a keen desire to support staff across the Health and Social Care sectors in the BSW System.


This role will provide a service across the BSW System and there is a requirement to work in collaboration with Workforce Leads, Learning and Development Leads and Clinicians across the Health and Social Care sectors.

It will be essential to develop and nurture key relationships with partners and organisations across the sectors.


The post holder will feel confident in using their skills and experience from working with Health and Social Care to support colleagues to identify the area of work which they are interested in.
