The Post-Doctoral Research Associate will underpin the work in the Griffin group in terms of the use of open profiling and targeted lipidomic and metabolomic workflows to understand human disease and how diet relates to the risk of developing chronic diseases.

This will involve the analysis of a range of mass spectrometry datasets. In particular, the post will support two projects - i.

MAP UK, a Medical Research Council network grant aimed at promoting the use of metabolomics across the UK and ii.

GOLIATH, an EU 2020 grant examining the impact of endocrine disruptors on obesity.

The post holder will have a strong background in bioinformatics and writing their own packages to process data, particularly for metabolomics or related fields.

Experience of Galaxy workflows or using high performance computing would be a distinct advantage.

Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 6, £36,333 - £40,745 per annum, and negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience.

Consideration will be given to applicants nearing the completion of their PhD, who will be appointed on the grade 5 (£34,314 per annum) as a Research Assistant, and assimilated to grade 6 upon successful completion of their PhD.

Informal enquiries should be made to Professor Jules Griffin, Director of the Rowett Institute

This post does not meet the minimum requirements for visa sponsorship under the Skilled Worker Route. We are therefore unable to consider applicants for this post that require sponsorship to work in the UK.
