Applebough Recruitment is looking for a cover supervisor to work in secondary schools in the Birmingham region.

A cover supervisor's responsibility is to assist classes while the regular teacher is absent.

You are not expected to prepare your own lessons; instead, you must present the lesson as taught by the teacher.

As a cover supervisor, you will be able to obtain significant experience in many departments within the school and learn about all elements of teaching.


The Role:


  • Taking the registration promptly at the start of classes
  • Delivering the lesson in the manner specified by the class instructor or management, such as by delivering a presentation, passing out materials, or assigning project work.
  • Maintaining student focus and addressing problematic misbehaviour when appropriate
  • Support with any learning issues.
  • Build rapport with students.
  • Assisting pupils with their studies
  • Being organised in terms of prechecking lessons and preparing resources in advance of the lesson
  • The capacity to work in a fastpaced, demanding, but always gratifying environment
  • Be dedicated to ensuring the safety of pupils.

The selected applicant will have the following qualifications:

  • A strong interest in drama and outstanding academic understanding spanning KS3 and KS
  • Experience working in a secondary school setting
  • A strong team spirit and desire to be a part of a successful team environment.
  • Effective classroom and behaviour management
  • Innovative and creative teaching approaches, as well as the capacity to encourage students.
