Main Purpose


Assists with the operation of a catering service within a Healthcare Ireland unit with particular emphasis on the movement, storage and preparation of food within the unit.


Key Accountabilities

  • Ensures that all catering stock and equipment is correctly stored and accounted for in accordance with the company's Assured Safe Catering standards.
  • Delivers meals and other catering supplies to various areas within the unit in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Under direction, assists with the basic preparation of food items.
  • Ensures all cleaning within the kitchen, catering and servery areas (as appropriate) is completed in a timely and efficient manner and complies with the company's Assured Safe Catering standards.
  • Delivers and maintains a clean and tidy environment throughout the home, in line with operational standards and ensures that work processes comply with statutory regulations.
  • Implements new services or more effective methods developed by management into their line of work.
  • Ensures service users are receiving a service that is value for their money.

Knowledge & Skills


The role holder requires basic numeracy and literacy together with an appreciation of basic food hygiene a professional cooking qualification is required for Assistant Chef.

Experience NVQ Level II Hospitality& Catering(preferably) but training will be provided.
