Description
Our client, based in Aberdeen, is a major supplier of pipeline equipment to the petrochemical industry.

They are currently recruiting for a Finance & Operations Manager to facilitate succession planning and to work with the Directors by taking over responsibilityfor the management of various operational activities including supervision of and providing support to the local accounts team.


At present most routine accounting such as processing of invoices and credit control is carried out by the small accounts department in Aberdeen with banking and financial reporting predominantly carried out by Group head office.

They want to reduce thereliance on head office by putting more high-level resource in Aberdeen.

Additionally the role will include other operational responsibility as detailed below.


Finance responsibilities

  • Preparation of monthly management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations and P&L review
  • Managing day to day cashflow
  • Reviewing foreign exchange exposures and liaise with treasury department
  • Assisting with the preparation/review of international trade documents such as Letters of Credit and Bank Guarantees


  • Vat

  • Review returns and manage VAT queries for both UK and overseas registrations.
  • Financial reporting including the preparation of information for the audit
  • Stock reporting and analysis.
  • Supporting the accounts team with technical queries

Skills/Qualifications

  • Experienced Excel user with knowledge of Pivot tables, lookups and data ranges
  • Good all round IT skills due to multiple software systems in use.
  • Would suit a Qualified accountant or qualified by experience (QBE).

Operational responsibilities
The role would, in addition, cover responsibility for operational areas of the business, supervising and supporting existing staff

  • Logistics/Customs,
  • Expediting,
  • Documentation,
  • Planning,
  • HSE.
A degree level qualification would be preferred but is not essential.

A competitive salary and benefits package will be offered in the region of £60,000 - £65,000 per annum.


The role might well suit an experienced (possibly qualified or part-qualified) accountant looking to develop a broader role in a progressive company.
