_This is an exciting opportunity to join Money and Pensions Service in their brand new office in Bedford. They are recruiting for their next Governance Business Partner to join their Governance team. This role provides the platform to work with the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), provide guidance and support to non-executive directors in committee meetings, and this role comes with plenty of potential for future development and growth in your career. _

Job description:

The Governance Business Partner will report directly to Head of Governance.

In this role you will be responsible for the following:


  • Primary lead for the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) including meeting bookings, agenda management, minutes, forward planning, actions management, and coordination, both in hybrid and facetoface working environments
  • Lead for subcommittee/s as advised by the Head of Governance, responsible for calendar planning, physical/dialin arrangements, agenda setting, commissioning and collating and circulating papers
  • Production of very highquality minutes
  • Create and maintain a cohesive forward agenda plan for ELT and subcommittees
  • Arranging and attending premeetings
  • Proactively advising the ELT and subcommittees as required on governance matters
  • Actively flagging related risks to the Head of Governance
  • Providing a quality assurance for all papers and business cases submitted to ELT and subcommittees
  • Leading annual effectiveness reviews for ELT
  • Lead for identifying opportunities for continuous improvement of governance processes
  • Managing discrete projects, activities and improvements as requested by the Head of Governance.
  • Liaising confidently with senior stakeholders, colleagues within the service and external contacts.
  • Advising colleagues on appropriate governance processes
  • Ensuring streamlined processes and systems are in place to manage all aspect of governance support, including agreement of quality standards for minutes, actions and decisions logs, turnaround time for minutes.

Person specification:

You will need to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • Demonstrable understanding and experience of corporate governance processes
  • Able to work autonomously and manage/influence others to meet deadlines and required standards
  • Used to working at all levels, including at Executive and Board level, and with senior management team members
  • Ability to manage internal and external stakeholders and build effective relationships at all levels and strong influencing skills
  • Experience of supporting Executive Teams, Boards and subcommittees or similar consultative forums
  • Ability to manage others' adherence to policy and procedures
  • Excellent communication skills verbally and in writing, with specific expertise in agenda preparation, minute taking and report writing
  • Ability to troubleshoot and challenge effectively in order to ensure that governance standards are adhered to
  • Strong organisational, time management and planning skills
  • Team player who can influence in a matrix working environment
  • Uphold confidentiality at all times
  • Uphold organisational values, and demonstrate expected behaviours
  • Accurate, with good attention to detail.
There may occasionally be some out of office hours working required to deliver this role effectively.
