We have a great opportunity to join our Education team as a Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) for Novus, working at HMYOI Cookham Wood on a fixed term (12 months), full time (37 hours per week) basis.
We deliver education and vocational training to. The aim is positive learner progress and successful outcomes. Your work will directly impact learners' move into employment, further education or training opportunities.

What the role entails


As a Special Educational Needs Coordinator, you will lead and, provide training, guidance and support to Managers, teachers and Learning support practitioners.

You will work closely with the Quality Manager, Deputy and Contract Manager to drive inclusive and neurodiverse education. You will also have an opportunity to work with a passionate National team of SENCos.


What we need from you
In order to be successful in the role of Special Educational Needs Coordinator, you will need:

  • Degree or equivalent
  • Hold an SEN qualification at Level 5 or above or commit to achieving within an agreed timescale a teaching qualification would be desirable.
  • Significant experience within the field of learning difficulties and disabilities
  • Vibrant with high expectations of themselves and students
  • Passionate about learning
  • Caring and patient
  • Conscientious with excellent attention to detail
  • Able to work as part of a wider team
  • Ambitious for their own professional and career development
  • Able to motivate and enthuse students through a commitment to equal opportunities, regardless of background, Special Educational Needs or prior attainment
  • Approach the role with expectations about collaborative partnership working.
  • Experience of successful working in an effective multidisciplinary team
  • Be able to track, record, analyse and evaluate data to support and influence both learner and course development.
