Description

Why we want you:
Community Engagement placement volunteer role is as part of the REPAIR project.

REPAIR (Reunification Pathways for Integration) is a project delivered by a consortium of four national societies and partners; Austrian Red Cross (ARC), British Red Cross (BRC), French Red Cross (FRC), Slovenian Red Cross (SRC) led by the IFRC.

REPAIR aims are to enable safe and legal family reunification (FR) to Europe by providing assistance to Beneficiaries of International Protection (BiP) and their family members from pre-arrival to post arrival stage and facilitate the integration of reunited families.

Here in the UK, we have four key objectives to be delivered. REPAIR is one of the Family Reunion programmes under the International Family Tracing directorate within UK operations. The community engagement element of the project consists of working with receiving communities also called host communities.

The refugee convention gives beneficiaries of international protection, called refugees in the UK the right to be reunited with their family members.

However, the legal right and duties toward these beneficiaries are not always understood by the receiving communities. This project aims to raise awareness among communities. Enabling family reunification can be costly for organisations supporting refugees and for refugees themselves.

We will be working with our fundraising colleagues to organise opportunities and activities including events aimed at raising funding toward the work of family reunion.

This is a fantastic and rewarding volunteering opportunity as it gives not only the opportunity to support some good cause, but also offer a lot of learning opportunities.
