Research Operations Lead (12 Month Secondment)


About the role
We are looking for a Research Operations Lead (maternity cover) to join our research team.


We are at the heart of driving customer centricity in the business, helping Capital One identify and translate our customer needs into opportunities we can invest in.

We work across the organisation on an extensive range of initiatives, from designing new products and services for our customers to cultural transformation and shaping our long term business strategy.


What You'll Do

  • Lead and evolve our research processes, operationalising and overseeing strategic initiatives
  • Guide us towards an efficient running of our practice, looking after the prioritisation of our resources, both in time and budget
  • Help us ensure our customers and respondents best interests by identifying and managing any risks posed by our practices
  • Communication and knowledge management. Maintain team resources, including research templates, job aids,Jira board, process documentation etc.
  • Manage research standards and regulations around the practice of data use and management relating to General Data Protection Regulation. Ensure that our research is legal, ethical, and in full compliance with data handling policies and practices.
  • Manage relationships with third parties including research providers and software tools, and overseeing the budget
  • Tool management. Research, recommend and manage research tools that are best suited to support our practices and team needs
  • Collaborating with various teams including, legal, researchers, designers and product managers to establish best practices for research and support bestinclass work.

What We're Looking For

  • This role is ideally suited for either an experienced Research Operations specialist or a seasoned operations / program management professional passionate about research and eager to move into the space
  • A strong interest and understanding of research and the value it brings to building customer understanding and empathy in an organisation
  • Someone who is meticulously organised and energised by detail, and knows when to get stuck in and when to coach others
  • Comfort taking on new, ambiguous, or changing requirements and turning them into a process that others can buy into
  • Know how to strike the balance on the right amount of process and know where and how to introduce change to make teams confident and comfortable with it.
  • Experience in managing risks within a programme (e.g. risks associated with carrying out research, and monitor the control mechanisms in place to mitigate the risks)
  • Are fluent in project management tools such as JIRA and Asana.

Where And How You'll Work
This is a permanent position and based in our London offices.


Our flexible, hybrid working model gives you the opportunity to work both remotely and in our offices, which provide great spaces for in-person collaboration.


Our core office days are Tuesday to Thursday, but the number of days you actually spend in the office will be led by your team, the work you're doing and your preferences.
