As the local, on property sales contact for customers, the Director of Sales is responsible for total account management of the existing account portfolio and segments, as well as proactively soliciting and developing new business opportunities with significant revenue potential.

Their focus is to build long-term, value-based customer relationships that enable the Hotel & Executive Apartments to achieve sales objectives.

The Director of Sales will work to achieve their personal goals, and support team related revenue goals.

This role is also responsible for leading and developing the Sales Manager and Sales Executive to achieve their goals, which supports the Hotel & Executive Apartments success.

In addition, they will work to inspire and facilitate growth to retain talent within Marriott International.

Previous proactive experience of the Business Transient, complex Groups, Catering and extended stay segments in 4/5 hotel.

Communication & interpersonal skills_ - _high standard of written and verbal English is essential with the ability to build long lasting relationships with clients. As well as the ability to build strong relationships with leaders, peers and associates in the hotel and wider Marriott network.

Sales and Events Skills_- _Strong understanding of sales and events systems and processes, efficient problem-solving skills, and ability to find solutions.

Sales Segmentation_ -_ in-depth understanding of key sales segments including groups, business transient, catering, and extended stay.

Reporting Skills_ - _facility to analyse market, business and economic trends impacting key accounts or segments, and how to use findings to develop initiatives and strategies.

Financial understanding_ - _ability to understand and interpret P&L statements, setting accounts specific revenue targets.

Collaboration_ - _supporting collaboration with Operations Department on guest experiences strategies.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

Sales and Marketing

  • Account Management
  • Creates sales strategy for account penetration across all segments (Business Travel, Group and Catering).
  • Executes sales strategy to achieve goals for all assigned hotels.
  • Understands the impact of department's operation on the overall financial goals; educates staff on details as appropriate.
  • Develops contracts and correspondence, manages opportunity details and proactively develops customer solutions.
  • Builds and strengthens relationships with existing and new customers to enable future bookings. Activities include sales calls, entertainment, FAM trips, trade shows, etc.
  • Participates in local and international travel to represent hotel & apartments at trade shows, sales missions, conferences etc.
  • Proactively identifies, qualifies and solicits new business opportunities to achieve personal and hotel revenue goals.
  • Understands the overall market competitors' strengths and weaknesses, economic trends, supply and demand etc. and knows how to sell against them.
  • Works independently or centrally, depending on account, with Corporate/Group and Catering Segments to establish appropriate business transient pricing for assigned accounts.
