Overall purpose
Work-related learning is an integral component of business programmes.

The Work Placement Coordinator plays a central role in the organisation and execution of the central processes for the quality assurance of work placements.

The Work Placement Coordinator will work closely with academic staff and students in the development of a new portfolio of placements suitable for programmes within the School of Business through establishing and preparing new placements.


The post holder will be responsible for the establishment, implementation & co-ordination of all administrative processes, which will include identifying and recording student placements to be considered for approval in addition to placement allocations, administration of audits and recording of mentors/employer's information.


This will be a varied, interesting, and challenging role, which will require flexibility, the ability to work independently as well as part of a team, and the ability to priorities to meet deadlines to the required quality standards.


Specific duties and responsibilities

  • Work in partnership with SOBE(Head of School and ASO's to agree on processes to establish a network of practice placements. This will include actively seeking potential placements implementing processes and close liaison with programmes leaders to agree suitability.
  • Establish and maintain channels of communication with all placement providers to maximise placement capacity. Develop and implement systems (i.e. risk assessment) to assist the monitoring of placement allocations, and capacity requirements.
  • Coordinate administrative processes relating to the allocation and recording of practice placements for all SOBE students.
  • Maintenance of student records databases for SOBE placements related operations, including provision of accurate statistical data for internal and external requirements, and maintenance of paper records, where appropriate. Coordinate the collection of data as required.
  • Coordinate the provision of accurate advice to staff and students on placement related matters. Provide a 'onestop' shop for SOBE placement queries for both placement areas and faculty staff.
  • Coordinate the processes for tracking, monitoring, and recording (carrying out DBS procedures when required) all information relating to SOBE practice placement Audits.
  • Liaise with internal and external bodies, such as admissions team, Academic Registry, Careers and Employability services etc. on various matters relating to the provision within the faculty, ensuring effective and efficient communication systems are maintained.
  • Service internal and external SOBE Placement related meetings, as required, through the production and distribution of relevant documentation and through attending and minuting meetings.
  • Contribute to reviews and evaluations of processes and systems, ensuring the provision of a costeffective highquality service, writing reports when required.
  • Work without direct supervision, delegating and prioritising workload as appropriate.
  • Undertake administrative duties as required by the role.
  • Attend and participate in meetings and working groups as appropriate, including representing department and Faculty, when required.

Person Specification

EXPERIENCE & PERSONAL QUALITIES

  • Essential:_
  • Experienced in the use of MS Office tools (word, excel, power point, Gantt Chart), Database.
  • Desirable:_
  • Experience of working in placement of students
  • Experience of working in the Higher Education sector
  • Experience of work placement Risk Assessment.
  • Experience of working with multiple employers.
  • Experience of report writing
  • Experience in liaison with External bodies

Salary:
£35,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
