Fixed Term Contract:
Full Time - 35 Hours per Week


Fixed Term Contract Duration: 2 years


We are looking for an enthusiastic, pro-active and well organised administrator to provide efficient day-to-day administrative and communications support to the University of Edinburgh's Simons Initiative for the Developing Brain (SIDB).

The full-time role will support the Centre Director, external and internal scientific advisory boards, a number of senior research investigators affiliated to the Centre, our PhD cohort and others as required.

Previous experience in an administration role is essential. This post is fixed term for 2 years.


The Opportunity:


The Simons Initiative for the Developing Brain is a major autism focussed research initiative between the University of Edinburgh and the Simons Foundation Autism Research Institute (SFARI).

The Centre Administrator will support the SIDB Director, internal board and research members to manage the day-to-day operations of the Centre.

The post will be line managed by the SIDB Director and will work closely with them to support the strategic objectives of SIDB.


The post holder will be part of the SIDB administration team alongside the PA for the Centre Director and will be based in the Hugh Robson Building at the University of Edinburgh.


Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Honours degree or equivalent formal scientific training / experience.
  • Broad substantial experience, acquired through a combination of job related training and considerable onthejob experience, demonstrating development through involvement in progressively more demanding relevant work/roles.
  • Good working knowledge of Neuroscience to be able to write summaries of new SIDB research.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a close team and to be flexible in responding to unforeseen issues.
  • Working knowledge of University academic policies, regulations and codes of practice.
