The Royal College of General Practitioners is the largest membership organisation solely for GPs in the United Kingdom.

Founded in 1952, it has over 54,000 members who are committed to improving patient care, developing their own skills, and promoting general practice as a discipline.

General practice is the largest branch of the medical profession.

It provides some 1 million consultations for patients in the UK every working day and deals with 86% of the health problems experienced by the UK population.

We are seeking a dynamic and highly motivated individual to join the Officer Business Management team and provide Executive Assistant support to the President of the RCGP and the Vice Chair for Professional Development.

The post involves making sure your officers are fully prepared for their meetings and can use their time in the College efficiently.

Consequentially strong administrative and time management skills are essential for this role.

For both the President and VC Professional Development, you will be responsible for diary and inbox management, organising meetings, arranging travel, processing invoices/expenses and drafting correspondence.

This is a challenging and rewarding role within RCGP dealing with high volumes of correspondence, meeting engagements and enquiries.

You will be the first point of contact for a range of prominent organisations including Department of Health, NHS England, a host of leading charities and our regional Faculty offices, and it is essential that you possess excellent written English and oral communication skills enabling you to interact confidently with a range of stakeholders.

You will be pro-active and be able to use your own initiative whilst being an excellent team member, collaborating with the wider team on key projects and events, including formal dinners and events.

You will have previous experience as an Executive Assistant providing support at directorial level, coupled with the ability and flexibility to respond to ever-changing deadlines.

As a member of the Officer Business Management team, you will have regular contact with your colleagues working to ensure continuity and co-ordination between officers and senior staff, including providing cover within the team when needed.

Strong knowledge and experience of MS Office, including Excel is essential.
