- Job description
- You will be working within our Asset Performance team who manage our flood risk management structures throughout the west of Hampshire and on the Isle of Wight. Our assorted structures protect communities from flooding, they also benefit habitat and ecological interests. Your focus will be delivering our related work on the Isle of Wight but there will be occasional travel to spend time with the team and attend training, occasional meetings and possibly deliver some other works. Your work will take you outside all year round and in all weathers.
The breadth of work will include:
- Responding to reports of problems/damage to our structures
- Specifying/requesting maintenance works from our staff and our contractors
- Planning future maintenance and investment in our structures for the short, medium and long term
- Checking that work is completed and to an adequate standard
- Dealing with customer enquiries
- Improving our assetrelated data, collecting, updating, editing within our systems
- Responding to flooding and environmental incidents
You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident.
This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.
- The team
- You will be working within our Asset Performance team who are based in Romsey; however, you'll be based in our Newport office alongside a small friendly team of islandbased multidisciplinary staff. Our islandbased staff work to deliver their respective teams core work but they also support and help one another where needed due to the nature of islandbased working.
- Experience/skills required
- You will have experience drawn from some or all of the following:
- Specification / supervision / delivery of maintenance or construction activities
- Civil or environmental engineering / design
- Dealing with customers the public, commercial or professional organisations
- Asset management of physical assets (see ISO 55000:2014, not financial assets)
- Data management gathering, updating, editing data and interrogation and interpretation of data
- Flood risk management related work
- Familiarity with common health and safety practice in the workplace, site or fieldwork
