Summary of Role
The Medical Deployment Officer is responsible for providing and co-ordinating Junior Doctors rota's, ensuring cover is arranged for all vacant shifts through the procurement of Internal Bank or External

Agency cover. The post holder will also provide a comprehensive, efficient and effective administrative support for the Medical Deployment Team and work closely with key members of Medical Staff and Care Group Management to ensure that there is sufficientJunior Medical cover in line the Care Group

requirements.

The post holder will also ensure the trust website and Health Roster is up-to-date providing the Trust with accurate information as to the medical cover across each Care Group at all times.


Duties

  • Develop and maintain effective communication and good working relationships with Care Group
  • Management, Senior Medical Staff, Junior Medical Staff, Medical Recruitment, Post Graduate
  • Medical Educational Team and the Medical Bank and Agency Manager.
  • Receive and respond to daily queries from wards, Medical staff and other organisational staff.
  • Use the organisations Bank Management system to publish and manage the Trust's bank locum requirements
  • Prepare and publish the rotas for the Medical Staff in conjunction with colleagues.
  • To demonstrate a significant level of initiative in organising and prioritising workload and taking decisions and appropriate actions.
  • To be flexible as the work is often unpredictable and is governed by priorities and incidents as they occur. To adapt and respond to nonroutine and unpredictable situations as and when they arise promptly and appropriately within the remit of the job description.
  • Ensure that the Team inbox's are managed following the relevant processes and guidance and escalated where necessary.
  • Competent user of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook/NHS Mail.
  • To have day to day responsibility for ensuring continuity of Medical cover across the Care Groups, with the support of the Senior Medical Deployment Officers and Medical Deployment Team Leader.
  • Undertake responsibility for ensuring all steps have been taken to ensure cover is provided promptly when required to meet the needs of the service.
  • Where adequate cover is not achieved ensure that this is escalated and communicated following the agreed processes and timescales.
  • To work within tight deadlines, ensuring that professional approach and attention to detail is maintained at all times.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Confident and effective user of MS Office packages inc Word, Outlook/NHS Mail and Excel.
  • Including ability to accurately undertake data entry.
  • Proven ability to prioritise and manage changing and/or conflicting deadlines
  • Proven customer service skills
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative.
  • Demonstrates commitment to customer service excellence.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Effective teamwork.
  • Effective communicator with all levels of staff
