  • The team
  • You'll join a small and dedicated Area Enforcement Team, who specialise in dealing with serious and significant complex environmental crime, principally investigating waste crime but also conducting investigations into serious water pollution or other environmental offending when required. To achieve our aims, we work closely with our regulatory teams across the Area and with enforcement and intelligence colleagues in other Areas and Nationally. We also routinely work with external enforcement bodies.
  • Experience/skills requiredGood understanding of the relevant environmental legislation (including the Environmental Permitting Regulations 2016, Environment Act 1995 and Environmental Protection 1990) and thorough knowledge and experience working under the legislation governing criminal investigations.
You should demonstrate a proven track record of leading investigations and achieving results.
An ability to work alone or with others, showing self-reliance whilst being a good team player.

Confidence dealing with hostile situations and an ability to proactively manage your own health and safety and that of others are key, as are an ability to complete tasks accurately.

Applied knowledge and experience of surveillance and intelligence practices is also desirable.
