Are you a registered nursing associate working within the NHS Trust? We have an exciting opportunity for highly motivated, hardworking, patient centred individuals to work within the Clinical Infection Unit at Royal Sussex County Hospital.

You will be putting your years of experience as well as your high level of knowledge and skill to use helping to provide high level care to our service users.


Clinical Infection Unit consists of 22 beds in total spread over 3 floors, mainly siderooms and one 6 bedded bay.

We have played major role in caring for patients with COVID during Pandemic and some other clinical infection including HIV.

Clinical Infection Unit has expanded and therefore needing a Band 4 Nursing Associate to deliver high quality, compassionate care under the direction of a Registered Nurse (or other registered care professional dependent on setting) with a focus on promoting health and independence.


The Nursing Associate will have successfully completed the Nursing Associate training programme which includes attainment of a level 5 Foundation Degree equivalent qualification.

They will have developed and will be expected to maintain knowledge, skills and competencies related to the role of Nursing Associate within the service and through completion of the Nursing Associate training programme which includes working in care settings and delivery of person-centred care.

  • Carry out programmes of care, therapy or treatment determined by registered healthcare practitioners. This may entail making minor modifications to the care programme or package within prescribed parameters, and reporting back on progress. It may also include supervision of individual or group therapy sessions within an overall programme of care, treatment of therapy.
  • Deliver high quality, compassionate care under the direction of a Registered Nurse (or other registered care professional dependent on setting) with a focus on promoting health and independence.
  • Carry out specific delegated clinical and care tasks and responsibilities to a high standard and competency, under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse or other registered care professionals dependent on setting.
  • Document nursing care in a comprehensive, timely, logical, accurate, clear and concise manner using appropriate terminologies (countersigned by a registered practitioner, as appropriate).
  • Assist in the safe admission, transfer and discharge of patients in accordance with Trust policies.
  • May supervise clinical support workers (eg. Health Care Assistants, Trainee Assistant Practitioners, Trainee Nursing Associates and 1st, 2ndyr student nurses) in own area; may assist in assessment and learning/development of clinical support workers.
  • Have proficient attitudes and behaviours compatible with NHS Values
