Main duties of the job:

The Emergency Department Assistant's main duties include but are not inclusive to:
Patient personal care including incontinence care, dressing, washing and oral care

Nutritional support including assistant patients with meals

Performing initial investigations such as venepuncture, cannulation and point of care testing

Escorting patients to different departments for treatments/investigations within the hospital

Transferring patients within the department, including patient handover

Daily cleaning and stocking

  • GCSE Maths and English Language, grade C or above (or equivalent)
  • Ability and willingness to undertake appropriate training

Desirable criteria:


  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, or Care Certificate

Experience:


Essential criteria:


  • Previous experience of working with the public
  • Previous experience working in healthcare setting

Desirable criteria:


  • Previous healthcare experience in acute hospital setting caring for patients who are unwell
  • Previous Emergency Department experience

Skills & Aptitudes:


Essential criteria:


  • Ability to work as a team member
  • Good communication skills
  • Skilled in time management
  • Basic IT skills
  • Able to complete appropriate documentation accurately
