Education Manager

Purpose of the role

To effectively and efficiently manage the Scheme for Registration work for which you have responsibility so that the scheme is delivered within agreed budgets and timescales and attain a high standard of quality.

To manage and develop their staff team to promoteeffective teamwork, career progression and improved quality according to College values and procedures.


Main responsibilities

Strategy and business planning

  • Assist and contribute to strategy and business planning when required by the Education senior team.
  • Formulate future planning for the Scheme for Registration for which you have responsibility.
  • Contribute to Scheme for Registration Key Performance Indications (KPIs) as required.

Day-to-day operations

  • Deliver products and services for the Scheme for Registration in a timely manner and to high standards as agreed with or directed by the Education senior management team.
  • Manage your team on a daytoday basis to promote teamwork, taking individual and collective responsibility, delivery of Scheme for Registration services to a high quality and achieving agreed deadlines.

Committee Support

  • Attend such meetings and committees agreed with the Education senior team as a representative of Education and the College.
  • Be an active, positive and collaborative member of meetings attended.
  • Provide timely and accurate reports for groups and committees as required by those committees or the Education senior team.
  • Represent and promote the College and its activities to the wider healthcare sector and general public.

Staff Management

  • Manage the staff in your team effectively, efficiently and without favour according to College procedures, policies and values.
  • Effectively and supportively address poor performance when encountered ensuring such training or other measures are developed to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Celebrate success by your team and individuals and encourage the sharing of knowledge, good practice and mutual support.
  • Actively support team members through effective (a minimum of) annual appraisals, individual and group career development plans and addressing concerns they raise in a timely manner.

Finance

  • Manage the budget for the area of work for which you have responsibility.
  • Process invoices presented to the College in a timely manner so they can be approved by the relevant person(s).
  • Keep accurate and uptodate financial records of activities under your responsibility.

Other responsibilities

  • Keep accurate and uptodate records of the activity in the areas for which you have responsibility according to College policies and procedures and appropriate legislation (such as GDPD).
  • Carry out any other duties appropriate to the post and as required by the Director of Education.
  • Actively practice and encourage continuous professional development in yourself and your team to learn new skills, improve your practice and improve the workplace at the College for all of your colleagues.
  • Ensure that at all times you take care of your health and safety and that of others by complying with health and safety obligations, particularly by reporting promptly any defects, risks or potential hazards.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Skills and Knowledge
Essential

  • Experience in and education or regulatory environment.
  • Ability to support and motivate people who report to, but may not necessarily be managed by you.
  • Experience in managing and responsibility for complex processes to acieve agreed key performance indicators.
  • Ability to manage your own time and that of others effectively to deliver highquality outcomes in a timely manner.
  • Experience influencing and managing stakeholder expectations, engagement and satisfaction.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A commitment to the continuous development of both yourself and others.
Desirable

  • Complex report writing for a variety of audiences.
  • Negotiating, influencing, coaching and mentoring skills.
  • Strategic planning experience.
  • Managing a budget.
