Overview of role:


You must be able to demonstrate an ability to work well in a small team, but also be able to take the initiative and enjoy the responsibility of working on your own.

Key requirements of the role include a strict attention to detail and the ability to work to tight deadlines, completing tasks in an often-demanding working environment.


Duties will include:


  • Liaise with the supervisor ensuring you have a full understanding of requirements, including timescales and deadlines, quality.
  • Working to tight tolerances, insulate new or existing parts either directly or by the creation of a removable shield, using thermally insulating materials and an encapsulation skin of thin gauge metallic sheet. (0.1mm)
  • Preparing materials for the team, including cutting by hand or with a machine, forming materials using appropriate workshop machinery such as fly press, rollers, hydraulic press, air tools and hand tools, spot welders.
  • Understanding and using existing patterns, templates and technical drawings. Creating new patterns for new jobs.
Entry requirements

Five GCSE's at Grade 4(C) or above including English and maths or equivalent.

Training to be provided

H&S training

Manual Handling Training

Ongoing training and development in the workplace

Attendance at Milton Keynes College, Chaffron Way campus
