Job Purpose:


Reporting to the Business Transformation and IT Manager, the postholder would manage delivery of a customer focussed, responsive and high-quality IT service to Maryhill Housing for staff and Board members based at all office locations and working remotely.

They would also manage the IT ServiceDesk, desktop & mobile devices, patch management, AV technologies, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, remote desktop services, Azure and VOIP telephony.

Operational management of Maryhill Housing's IT infrastructure and security in line with best practice and Cyber Essentials standards. Implementation of audit recommendations. Monitoring security risks, management and upkeep of IT hardware inventories, mobile device management and monitoring.


Leading and advising on best practice and continuous improvement to support digital transformation, flexible working and improve the customer journey.

To act as lead for IT advice, guidance and input as part of working groups and project teams across the organisation.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Manage IT service desk for 1st and 2nd line support resolving tickets within SLA's, leading the resolution of 3rd line technical support issues escalating to IT support partners where required and managing responses within agreed SLA's to resolution.
  • Ensure that knowledge and resolutions for issues are documented and shared with the wider IT team building an IT knowledge base.
  • Be responsible for the endtoend lifecycle of hardware, including the secure deployment of workstations, portable devices, other peripherals and telephony equipment.
  • Manage user software licenses and maintain documented records and procedures.
  • Manage delivery of services to agreed SLAs and deadlines, identifying and taking forward IT service delivery improvements.
  • Manage, monitor and implement user access & network security using best practice and industry guidance to ensure the association meets Cyber Essentials standards and fulfils audit recommendations to mitigate known risks.
  • Ensure that operational activity within the Association complies with good governance standards for GDPR and PCI DSS and lead on achieving and retaining Cyber Essentials accreditation.
  • Line Management of the IT Assistant in line with Maryhill Housing's processes and procedures.
  • Autonomous responsibility for management of workload and prioritisation of tasks in line with organisational need.
  • Proactively promote industry best practices and standards within the Association, contributing technical input to the creation, development and delivery of effective IT policies and procedures.
  • Contract management of 3rd party IT support services to meet agreed SLA's. Assisting with the procurement and renewal of new and existing services.
  • Manage delivery of IT inductions, support skills training and IT skills development for staff across the Association.
  • Identify opportunities to deliver value for money and support the Associations Digital Strategy by maximising use of IT functionality, Microsoft 365, SharePoint and other features to improve efficiency and increase productivity.
  • Contribute towards related Associational objectives, goals and priorities as documented in the corporate strategies. It is expected that any other relevant duties agreed with the Business Transformation & IT Manager are undertaken.
  • Develop a professional network across the Housing sector, with peers and key IT professionals, bodies and suppliers.
  • Flexibility to work outside normal office hours where required (early mornings, evenings, weekends) to support upgrade or maintenance work. In the rare event of unforeseen systems failure, that you will play a role in DR / BC plans as required.

Technical Responsibilities:


  • Management of the following: Service Desk Management tool, Desktop & Device Management tool, Patch Management, AV Technologies, Active Directory, Office 365, Remote Desktop Services, Azure and VOIP telephony.
  • Procure, setup and manage IT infrastructure hardware and devices onpremise (servers, switches, PC's, printers) and mobile working devices (laptops, mobiles, tablets)
  • Monitoring and authorising invoices and budget spend up to £5000.
  • Management of IT hardware assets and inventory including equipment replacement programs, updating asset registers and secure disposal and/or recycling of obsolete hardware.
  • Manage the security of IT infrastructure including firewalls, antivirus, patching and network monitoring by coordinating regular scheduled checks and updates.
  • Coordinate an ongoing programme of vulnerability testing and Business Continuity plan testing.
  • Management of static / mobile telephony and connectivity including VOIP phone system, SIP trunks, fixed line (broadband), smartphones, CCTV, wireless access points and MDM software.
