The Head of Marketing is responsible for defining and delivering the brand and marketing strategies for Bupa Health Clinics in line with the strategic direction and objectives of the business, driving growth through acquiring new customers and deriving maximum value from existing customers through retention and relationship growth.


The Head of Marketing role will lead the marketing team in the end-to-end delivery of all brand and marketing communications across the clinics portfolio and will lead collaborative cross BU activities within BGUK.

Directing the marketing team to support internal teams to ensure they are representing the brand and product messaging accurately and effectively, providing the right tools to support communications.

Ensuring the marketing team contribute to effective trading of the clinics business.


This role is responsible for customer insights; customer journey, national brand campaigns, managing creative and media buying agencies, leading the internal digital and social media team to deliver campaigns.


The Head of Marketing is a key member of the Commercial leadership team, and also plays a key role in defining and communicating the brand values working alongside colleagues in Group Brand Marketing.


How you'll help us make health happen

  • Define and deliver the annual marketing strategy and plan on time and within budget to drive commercial growth and improve brand awareness and relevancy
  • Drive out clinics product portfolio awareness and acquisition
  • Ensure ROI and performance against KPIs
  • Collaborate with Head of Digital Transformation to contribute to the ongoing enhancements in our Customer Advocacy (NPS) through clear, effective and well targeted Marketing communications.
  • Collaborate with the operations team to ensure focussed local marketing tactics are in place to support localised sales targets.
  • Utilise and source appropriate insights to stimulate the creative and production team to develop briefs that will drive out winning campaign propositions, owning the planning and delivery of all marketing activities.
  • Support the sales team to create and deliver an effective sales marketing plan that drives product awareness and engagement
  • Own the longterm brand portfolio strategy
  • Provide marketing input and support into the broader company growth strategy
  • Own the designated marketing approvals process to ensure all marketing activities are compliant
  • Own customer insights (market research, NPS, google reviews etc) and interpret those insights into understanding customer journey; customer segmentation; and work into tangible marketing plans
  • Drive the marketing agenda within the clinics business through engagement with central functions eg building strong relationships with Regional Operations Directors, Heads of Service, and Head of Sales
  • Continuous engagement with MU Heads of Marketing and cross functional key stakeholder management

Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role:

  • An experienced senior, multi-disciplined marketeer;
  • Experience of strategic marketing and brand planning;
  • Strong campaign planning and delivery experience;
  • Regional and local Marketing experience, and track record in driving results locally as well as nationally;
  • Experience of managing a broad digital remit including website, SEO, PPC and social media;
  • Experience of leading CRM programmes desirable;
  • Commercially savvy able to appreciate and balance the goals of delivering commercial returns through products and services that delight customers and give true value for money in keeping with the Bupa Brand;
  • Ability to create strong business cases to support investment;
  • Analytical skills to interpret customer data and identify trends, root causes, and diagnose solutions;
  • A team mindset that appreciates how you do something being as important as what you do;
  • Experience working in a matrixed organisation where teamwork, collaboration and communication are keys to success;
  • Remote retail, travel, tech, digital media, or subscriptions sector experience desirable.
