**What will you be doing: Working within the wide Facilities team, the Facilities Multi-Skilled Tradesperson will be an essential team member working closely with our Shift Engineers as well as external contractors.


You will be expected to support the Central Engineering teams as well as the Facilities Teams across our sites to ensure effective and efficient operations.

This includes prioritising efficient operations resulting in mínimal downtime for a fast-paced manufacturing operation.


Essential responsibilities:


  • Receive Facilities Helpdesk requests and respond and resolve as appropriate. Close out the request on completion of task within an agreed timescale.
  • Responsible for performing a range of routine and sometimes complex building and facilities maintenance activities such as plumbing, general building and carpentry indoors, outside and in plant areas in a timely manner and without supervision.
  • Assist Shift based engineers with tasks as required.
  • The role demands flexibility in working hours as some work can only be done out of hours. Mainly hands on with a high degree of mobility across all UK sites.

Travel Requirements:

Travel between Hamble and Chandlers Ford site with an approximate 70% at Hamble and 30% at CF


Work Environment:


  • Mainly hands on with a high degree of mobility across all UK sites.
  • Working in plant rooms with moderate levels of noise.
  • Frequent time in manufacturing areas, plant rooms and around equipment with moving parts where PPE may be required.
  • The core working hours are days. Will be required to work outside for short periods of time in all weather conditions.
  • Occasionally lift up to 25 Kilograms. Potential exposure to chemicals where PPE will be required

What are we looking for?
At least 3 years' experience of working in a similar environment as an experienced tradesperson.

Ideally some knowledge of medical device or pharmaceuticals production and facilities

Electrical biased experience (City & Guilds Qualification)

In addition, you'll have experience in:

  • Good organisation and the ability to use own initiative and make decisions is essential.
  • Use of Microsoft Office and Business systems is needed to maintain records for the Facilities department.
  • Good understanding of the equipment relevant to the Facilities within an office and production environment.
  • Extensive understanding of Health and Safety requirements and responsibilities of external contractors.
  • The role is part of a support function requiring a high level of collaborative dialogue with Functional Management. Liaising with Supervision and Managers to organise contract work to be carried out in Production and Offices.
