Quality Inspector CMM experience required


The X-Cel Group, consisting of X-Cel Superturn, Colson X-Cel and Vector X-Cel are manufacturers of high specification component parts and assemblies.


Machine Shop Quality Inspector (complex, precision engineered products)


You will play a crucial role within the business and will be encouraged to make improvements including quality control, modernisation and automation where possible.


Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to -

  • Inspecting medium to large engineered manufactured components (both manually and using CMM)
  • Managing inspection reports
  • Using a range of manual measuring equipment ie, micrometers, verniers, thread gauges
  • Carrying out firstoff inspections at the machines
  • Using CNC CMM machines and FARO arms
  • Completing computerised customer inspection reports
  • Calibration
  • Implement method/setting sheets for CMM programs
  • Oversee & investigate internal rejects through to completion
  • Manage customer witness inspection visits
  • Complete patrol inspections while CMM is running
  • Implement and learn offline CMM programming, develop the use of 3D models
  • Inspection plan for new jobs, checking we have the necessary measuring equipment
  • Generally plan and organise the inspection department and equipment
  • Implement 5S with support from the Quality Manager
  • Support the training of apprentices on the inspection department
  • Must be a competent user of CMM equipment to be considered for this position
  • Must bring extensive, similar manual inspection experience from a precision engineering/manufacturing environment
  • Detail orientated, strong work ethic & a positive 'will do' attitude
  • Follows management directions to achieve results
  • Excellent planning, organisation & communication skills
  • Enthusiasm and desire to learn
  • Motivated working alone and as part of a busy team

Core hours of work:

Monday-Thursday 07:00-16:00, Friday 07:00-12:00 (with some flexibility) 39 hours per week.
