Location:
Hybrid - 1 day per week in Manchester or Bristol

The Cabinet Office is undergoing a significant Digital Transformation.

Over the next three years we aspire to make UK Government digital services the best in the world, meeting or exceeding the benchmark set globally by the best public or private sector standards.

For us to meet this ambition we are aiming to further improve the conditions, processes and expertise we have in place to be set up for success.


To support these ambitions we have established a new Cabinet Office Digital directorate for the Cabinet Office to build on existing strengths.

The directorate has approximately 350 staff and is growing to meet the demands of the department, and to provide a wider and more mature range of digital, data, technology and security services.

We are looking for a user researcher for a discovery into our intranet platform.


As a Digital User Researcher
your main responsibilities would be:

  • Support the planning and design of high-quality digital services, based on user needs and sets of related stories in accordance with design standards whilst maintaining and developing assured research practices, building user-centred practices and delivery patterns to support user research as required.
  • Plan, advise and support usercentred design initiatives providing expertise in user experience and leading on the implementation of user research ensuring alignment with wider strategic research activities to inform service propositions, decision making and support the creation of new digital user focused products and services.
  • Identify opportunities to improve system robustness, resilience and stability helping team members identify ways to improve services and user journeys by simplifying complex experiences and improving content within interactive services.
  • Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams including architecture, security, developers and product management to understand what needs to be built, conducting quality assurance, peer review/critiques, fact checking, and accessible design reviews as required.
  • Drive the creation of highquality user research artefacts, including personas, experience models, and reports from qualitative and quantitative user research by analysing and evaluating data from differing sources identifying pros, cons and risks in order to make well considered decisions.

You'll have:


  • Experienced in the planning of research scope for projects, providing design and conduct user research both qualitative and quantitative within a complex enterprise environment whilst considering, planning for and supporting assisted digital and accessibility requirements.
  • Experience of working within multidisciplinary teams within a collaborative agile environment with the ability to maintain effective performance in complex and challenging circumstances.
  • Proven stakeholder manager, communicator and relationship manager experienced building, developing understanding and supporting usercentred design and managing expectations and deliverables for tech and nontech audiences.

Desirable:


  • Public Sector / GDS experience.
  • Please be aware that this role can only be worked within the UK and not Overseas._
