We have an exciting opportunity for a
Project Worker - Montfort House to join our team based in
London. You will join us on a
full time, permanent basis and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of
£29,378 - £31,352 per annum (NJC Scale inc LW + pension and other benefits.

Hours:35 hours per week working a shift pattern over 7 days, covering the hours 8am - 8pm Monday to Sunday, over a 12 week rolling rota, which includes 6 weekends.


Montfort House is part of the Passage, which is a Vincentian organisation whose mission is to encourage, inspire and challenge homeless people to transform their lives.

We are a 16-bed supported housing project made up of studio flats.

Our service uses a PIE model which allows staff to reflect and understand how trauma can impact behaviour, so we can work with individuals in a personalised way.


We benefit from the psychology in hostels model and have a psychologist from SLaM who is based at Montfort house one day a week.

The psychologist offers one to on therapy work with residents, and supports the staff team by facilitating complex case discussions, "through the lens of trauma"

Montfort House is offers accommodation to homeless men, women and couples.

Priority is given to the most vulnerable rough sleepers especially RS205 referrals as well as couples & other individuals with complex needs.

Our aim is to offer hard to reach individuals an opportunity to move away from the streets by providing a safe & relaxed environment.

We incorporate an adult-to-adult approach to allow people the chance to settle in and gain confidence.

Once settled our support approach is tailored, and we aim to work with everyone at a level which best meets their needs.

We're transparent in our communication and if we need to address a concern we take a challenge and truth approach.


An enhanced DBS check is required as this position will involve working directly with vulnerable adults

Key responsibilities of our Project Worker
will include:

  • Providing excellence in all areas of service delivery to the residents of Montfort House.
  • Ensuring that everyone living in Montfort House has an individualised support package via needs assessment, appropriate support plan and key working processes which are responsive to their needs.
  • Developing the service provided at Montfort House as and when the needs of the residents change and ensuring adherence to best practice in relation to working within a psychologically informed environment and contractual requirements from our funders.
  • Providing excellent support, advice and advocacy to residents regarding Housing Benefit, Job Seeker Allowance, Employment Support Allowance, Pensions credit etc. including historic debt recovery.
  • Negotiating and liaising with both internal and external agencies on behalf of Montfort House residents while ensuring The Passage is always represented in an appropriate and professional manner.
  • Supporting other staff and other Passage teams by contributing to joint initiatives.
  • Developing and delivering a service that is exceptional in a complex environment, which is creative, professional, holistic and gets results.
  • Understanding and operating under a Personalisation methodology.
  • Understanding and utilising Psychologically Informed Practice in the delivery of case management systems, in training and in supervision.
  • Employ detailed knowledge and comply with the terms of relevant legislation, in particular in the areas of housing, homelessness, rough sleeping and health and social care.
  • Managing the transition from supported accommodation into an independent tenancy.
  • Facilitating joint working and delivering joint personalised support plans (with partners, peers and other agencies) and maximising opportunities and outcomes for our residents.
  • Engaging with residents to motivate them to move away from a street lifestyle, utilising different motivational techniques, reflective practice and empathetic attitude.
  • Working with other agencies in diverse areas including employment, health, housing, immigration, family relationships, criminal justice system, drug and alcohol services, welfare and other statutory bodies.

Experience

  • Demonstrable experience of motivating excluded adults who may not wish to engage with services in a residential or similar setting.
  • Experience of working within a team and achieving strong and effective relationships with others to achieve organisational aims and objectives.
  • Experience of navigating the welfare benefits system on behalf of vulnerable individuals and experience of appeal procedures
  • Experience of joint working; especially in relation to case conferences and a multiagency approach to supporting vulnerable people.
  • Experience of working with people who have survived extreme trauma, are living with Personality Disorder, diagnosed or otherwise, and or other mental health issues.
