Description

Job overview

We have a fantastic opportunity to recruit a permanent Band 6 Speech and Language Therapists to our Acute Stroke Team in East and North Hertfordshire, based at Lister Hospital in Stevenage.

The role is in our Acute Stroke Service, where you will be working alongside an MDT including Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Consultants, Dieticians and Psychologists.

You will work alongside a large team of other SLTs and SLTas to deliver varied and evidence based intervention to our service users.

We regularly run Videofluoroscopy Clinics as part of our Acute Service, which you will be encouraged to participate in. We offer a full seven day service including bank holidays, which offers additional supplementary pay.

Our Acute Stroke service offers a fast paced and exciting environment where you will benefit from the broad knowledge and experience of the whole team.

This role would be an excellent opportunity for a Band 6 therapist looking to develop their skills or as a development opportunity for an experienced Band 5 therapist.

  • You will demonstrate your excellent knowledge of dysphagia and communication by using sound evidence based care
  • You will support junior colleagues including NQTs and SLTas by providing both clinical and peer supervision
  • You will be involved in complex discharge planning and mental capacity assessments
  • You will participate in daily MDT meetings to discuss patient care, ensuring SLT goals are embedded in the overall patient management.
  • You will be expected to aim to deliver SLT intervention against a SSNAP rated service
A big thank you for considering joining us at Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust.

You'll find it a great place to work with many benefits offered to you as a member of our staff.

We put our patients, their families and carers at the centre of our vision - Outstanding Services and Healthier Communities.
