An exciting bank opportunity has become available within our Catering team


Musgrove Park Hospital are in need of General Catering Assistant/Kitchen Porters to work as part of a large team to maintain a clean safe working environment and to assist in the transportation of patient meals and provisions to wards and departments.


You must have the ability to work as part of a team as well as on your own initiative, also to be able to follow instructions and possess good communication skills.

You will be required to comply with the Catering Code of Conduct throughout your employment. A Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate is desirable but full training will be given.

  • Specific duties will be discussed at interview to meet service requirement.
  • To assist in the efficient operation of the Catering Service for patients and the provision of all other meals throughout the hospital. The service is a 7day operation shifts vary between 6.00am and 6.00pm.
  • The post holder will be directed by the Catering Supervisor or Catering Team Leader to carry out a range of duties for the needs of the service.
  • The cleaning of the work environment following a planned and methodical approach in order to ensure all areas are included
  • Follow our HACCP and record on the Kelsius system. Examples of areas cleaned are storerooms, fridges, freezers, and the immediate external vicinity of entrances, kitchens and sanitary areas.
  • The post holder will be required to report faults on equipment used or change in cleaning schedules.
  • Participate in training as directed by the Catering Supervisor or Catering Team Leader. This would include training in cleaning techniques and mandatory training such as Fire Safety, Moving & Handing, COSHH, Infection Control, Food Hygiene, Allergen Awareness and Data Security.

Planning and Organisation

Reporting to the Manager /Supervisor on arrival to be given instruction of the work to be carried out. Able to follow set plans that have been agreed through conversations with colleagues.

Ability to work with digital devices to record facilities stock
