The Role

This is a Research Assistant/Associate position, as part of a programme of work funded by Cancer Research UK to investigate the biology of neutrophils in the hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) tumour microenvironment.

The project will use a variety of approaches including multi-omics, high performance imaging and experimental modelling (in vitro and in vivo) to determine phenotypes and functions of neutrophils in HCC tumours from clinical and experimental sources.

You will work in the internationally renowned Newcastle Fibrosis Research Group under the supervision of Prof Derek Mann and Dr Jack Leslie, and in close collaboration with colleagues based at the CRUK Beatson Institute at Glasgow.

The aim of the programme is to advance recent work from the team describing approaches by which tumour neutrophils can be therapeutically manipulated to enhance immunotherapy.

The post would be ideally suited to a PhD cell biologist or immunologist with previous experience working with complex experimental models of solid tumours.
