My client is recruiting for a hardworking, innovative, and enthusiastic Site Controller/ Caretaker to work at their Primary School

The role is to start from ASAP

This is a Permanent role

This is to work full time hour

  • 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year
Monday to Friday


Salary:
FTE Grade 5 £25,409 - £26,845

Hours are flexible, preferred daily hours 7.00am am & 3.30pm to 6.30pm

The school is a vibrant school, with state-of-the-art new building and facilities for both pupils and staff. They are now looking for a reliable and resourceful Site Controller to join our supportive and talented team.

Duties include but are not limited to:
The Site Controller will be responsible for the operation, maintenance and security of the school site and buildings.

This will involve ensuring that the school's premises and site meets health and safety regulations, is kept as attractive as possible, and that all facilities and equipment is maintained to a high standard.

Along with opening and closing the school daily.


The purpose of this role is to ensure that the school's facilities are correctly cared for and that the school site is secured at the end of the day.

The Site controller will be responsible for the security of the premises and its contents (including the operation of fire and burglar alarms and key holder responsibilities.

Lighting, heating and managing the cleaners who clean the premises (Including maintenance and operation of plant); porterage (carrying of loads) and handyperson duties; and other duties arising from the use of the premises.

The Site controller may also drive the school mini bus as part of their duties.

Security of Premises


Carrying out recognised procedures in the event of fire, flood, breaking and entering accident or major damage; Providing access to the school in the event of emergency situations; Dealing with inquiries from teaching staff, students and pupils, parents, workmen and contractors, and members of the public.

Checking and securing the school premises subsequent to out of hour's intruder alarm activation.

Register as a Key Holder and be a point of contact in an emergency call-out situation.


Lighting and Heating of Premises Checking and replacing electric light bulbs or tubes which are in position where safe access is available Operating the heating plant so that the required temperatures are maintained in the school premises, and that an adequate supply of hot water is available; Carrying out frost prevention procedures as instructed; Carrying out routine inspection and maintenance procedures in accordance with the instruction of the schools Heating Engineers on ancillary equipment such as checking automatic pumps.


Read Gas Electric and Water meters as required Monitoring and setting of heating controls and boilers Cleanliness of Premises Act as the point of contact for the cleaning staff and report to the School Business Manager any issues.

Window cleaning - regular inside and outside entire building Any cleaning as required - to include weekly cleaning of the spare classrooms and rooms not included in the Rapid Clean cleaning contract Walking around play areas and drives daily, picking up paper and litter, etc.

Sweeping excess dirt from hard surfaces and clearing leaves during the Autumn period Ensuring that dustbin points are clear, emptying litter bins and keeping clean, and distributing bins as required (weekly) To rock salt same etc.

in frosty weather to ensure that all drains, gullies and grids are kept flowing free and clean, including cleaning blockages.


Porterage Taking delivery of stores, materials and other goods received by the school and storing them as instructed; Replenishing stock in washrooms (paper towels, toilet rolls etc) Dispatching, goods, materials, etc.

from the school Laying out and stacking furniture as require e.g.

class assemblies Any other porterage duties as requested by the head of the establishment Safety at Work Ensure that the school's fire safety systems and equipment are checked weekly.


Ensure the sprinkler system and sprinkler equipment is tested weekly and manage the routine maintenance by the Local Authority contractor Ensuring that all cleaning and caretaking activities are carried out in the safe manner described in the Codes of Practice; To be responsible for carrying out daily safety checks on the grounds, playgrounds, equipment and surfaces.


Major Repairs and Maintenance The Site controller must draw the attention of the Head Teacher/School Business Manager to any repairs or maintenance work required at school.

Be aware of the location of all stopcocks, gas and electricity meters and read meters as required.

Ensure that the plant room is tidy and that no flammable material is stored there. Gardening (weeding, cutting grass, maintaining flower beds etc) and general landscaping Make safe any hazards and ensure that the area is cordoned
