Job Introduction

We are seeking a creative and experienced communications specialist to join our Marketing and Admissions team, leading on digital communications.

Working alongside our talented Visual Communications Lead and the Admissions Registrar, the key purpose of the role is to support the Head of Admissions and Marketing with the promotion and marketing of The Edinburgh Academy.

The Digital Communications Lead will work as part of the Admissions and Marketing team. The team consists of a Head of Admissions and Marketing, an Admissions Registrar, and a Visual Communications Lead.

Whilst the team have their individual roles and responsibilities, there is also a great deal of team collaboration and support.

Normal working hours are 8:30am until 4:30pm daily. There will be a requirement to work out of hours as directed by the manager. Overtime or time off in lieu will be granted for these periods.

Main Responsibilities
The following list comprises the majority of the tasks required of the post, however it is not an exhaustive list and other tasks may be required, as directed by the School leadership team:

Digital Storytelling

  • Collating content from every area of the school to reflect the children's breadth of educational experience.
  • Create and post engaging content for schoolowned social media accounts to support the school's marketing plan and in coordination with all other digital and print communications. To engage with our social media audience to maintain a positive dialogue and representation of the school.
  • Posting content daily across the school's social media accounts and website in a creative and original way, adapting it where necessary to ensure it is relevant for each platform. Updating the school's social media accounts to ensure the home page content is accurate and up to date on each platform.
  • Developing video content that can be used in conjunction with other content to reflect the school's caring ethos and highlight the wonderful activities that enrich the children's school experience.
  • Coordinating the production of the school's weekly newssheet which showcases the weekly life of the school, and provides stakeholders with an authentic and positive impression of the school.
  • Engage with the online community positively and constructively.
  • Measure and report key analytics on the website and social media to the Head of Admissions and Marketing
  • Keep the school website updated with current events with the School and its wider community.
  • Attend all school events as directed to take photographs and video of them for use in marketing
  • Advise the Marketing Committee on the analytics of the website and other data sources to drive improvements to marketing strategy.

Photograph and film management

  • Taking photographs/film, when necessary, and safely storing and sharing these as appropriate.
  • Coordinating and managing the collection of photographs/film taken at events by other staff members, ensuring they are stored appropriately.
  • Ensuring all photographs / film are catalogued and easy to find.
  • Resizing and editing photographs/films for use on social media and the website
  • Liaising with the school office and Visual Communications Lead to ensure an uptodate photo / film consent list is produced and circulated at least termly.
  • Supporting the Visual Communication Lead and Head of Admissions and Marketing in sourcing relevant photographs/film and content for publications.

General

  • Uphold the ethos and aims of the school.
  • Attend inset days and other such meetings and events as required.
  • Some flexibility of hours will be required, with occasional weekend and evening work required.
  • Assist with or take responsibility for other projects as directed.

Essential:


  • Relevant handson experience in a social media / digital content related role
  • Experience producing digital content
  • First class copy writing skills along with excellent grammar
  • Exceptional people skills, selfmotivation, and the ability to relate quickly and easily with pupils, parents, staff, and other stakeholders
  • Strong attention to detail, creative thinker
  • Friendly, approachable, and willing to get involved
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 packages
  • Creative flair and ability to generate unique ideas
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Adaptability, with a dynamic and quickthinking approach
  • Common sense and trustworthy

  • Video production skills and experience
  • A confident photographer
  • Ability to engage a wide range of constituents behind a clear, unified vision
  • Experience of project management and ability to juggle multiple priorities
