What does a Residential Support Worker do at Hillingdon?

We are recruiting to a number of Residential Care Worker Post to join the team at Hatton Grove.

This is a full-time position working 36 hours per week on a rota basis. The salary advertised will be pro-rated.

Hatton Grove is a 20 bedroomed residential service for Adults with Learning Disabilities.

We provide a warm, caring, and comfortable environment where our service-users can develop skills and achieve maximum quality of life.


You will work within a team that provides day to day care and tailored support to each service-user, meeting their individual needs in accordance with their care plan.

You will also ensure that policies and essential standards of quality and safety are achieved.

  • To be responsible to the Registered Manager, Team Leader for the day to day care and support of the service users.
  • To follow departmental policy, the operational policy and the care practice standards of the home, to provide within a warm and supportive atmosphere.
  • To implement individual care/support plans so as to ensure the welfare of each individual service user is met.
  • No direct supervisory responsibility however may be required to assist in induction and training of peers and new employees.
  • Indirectly supervise volunteers, students, work placements and agency staff placed within the service providing guidance as required and directed.
  • To contribute to records regarding individual service users and to ensure confidentiality data protection is followed within record keeping and discussions. At all times to maintain professional relationships with service users that respects their dignity, individuality and rights and to conduct duties in a way which is sensitive appropriate and professional

Key Responsibilities include:


  • To enable service users to live a full and active life, planning and arranging social and recreational activities within the home and in the local community, and to offer service users a range of opportunities and experiences that is stimulating, interesting and relevant.
  • To demonstrate understanding of the Council's _Customer Care Standards_ and ensure that these standards are met in order to deliver the Council vision of 'putting our residents first'.
About you


You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and will engage effectively with service-users with a variety of communication and care needs.

You will be committed to treating residents with dignity and respect in all aspects of the care and support that you provide.

Previous experience of working with people with learning or physical disabilities is essential for this role.


You will be required to work on a rota covering early and late shifts 7 days a week, 365 days a year.


  • To liaise with families, advocates, health services, out side agencies, Care Management services as necessary, in relation to the needs of individual service users.
  • To maintain awareness of national and local guidelines in service department appropriate to client group.
  • To have good ICT skills and able to work using digital technology
  • Effective skills to complete write reports to a high standard.
