My client in
Southampton is looking for an experienced
Band 6 Histology Biomedical Scientist for a locum contract.

Job Role:

  • Monday
  • Friday
  • 37.5 h/week
  • As part of a small team, you will be involved in the daytoday running of the main laboratory within the department.
  • In conjunction with the cellular pathology quality lead & senior biomedical scientist team, you will ensure that the area continues to meet all quality standards required & all relevant documentation in preparation for UKAS accreditation visits is available& continues to be kept up to date.
  • You will be involved with the UKNEQAS CPT EQA submissions for the area as required, highlighting & responding to any nonconformities raised.
  • You will supervise & train staff as directed and required

Qualifications and Experience required:
-
HCPC registered as a BMS:

  • Have evidence of laboratory training courses and competence.
  • Significant previous experience in a busy Cellular Pathology department.
  • Significant technical expertise in the field of diagnostic cellular pathology
  • Experience of employment in an establishment delivering high standards of quality output.
  • Have knowledge and experience of using hospital IT systems
  • Clear and accurate communicator
  • Demonstrate manual dexterity, accuracy and excellent attention to detail
  • Be confidently literate and numerate
  • Keyboard skills and basic computer and IT skills.
  • To be able to concentrate for extended periods & respond to competing demands
  • Understanding of working to Standard Operating Procedures
  • Willing to rotate and work in all areas of the Cellular Pathology department
  • Be able to handle all types of samples presented to the department for analysis some of which may be potentially infectious
