The Medical Research Council (MRC) is looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Administrator to join our Scientific Events and Committees Team at MRC Head Office.

About the Role

Responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining and updating spreadsheets, compiling information accurately and succinctly
  • Issuing invitations and tracking responses
  • Attending events/workshops/committee meetings and supporting the Events Team Manager, e.g. overseeing the registration desk
  • Supporting virtual meetings, alongside the Events Team Manager; assisting with Zoom logistics, managing Zoom waiting rooms and monitoring Q&A sessions
  • For facetoface meetings, organising the venue and hospitality
  • Drafting, collecting, filing and updating documentation, such as invitation letters, confidentiality agreements and declarations of conflict of interest
  • Raising purchase orders and receipting invoices
  • Processing expense claims

You will need:


  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • The ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally
  • Experience of working independently and as part of a team
  • The ability to work proactively and use initiative to deliver results
  • A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Excellent literacy and numerical skills
