We are looking for an ambitious and experienced content marketing professional to join the University and help us become sector leading in our approach to brand marketing.

The ability to communicate in Welsh is essential for this post.

Purpose of the Job

Purpose of the Job:

This post has responsibility for the development and management of a range of content which will creatively and effectively tell the brand story of Bangor University.

This content will include written narrative, long and short, video and photography.

It will need to be designed for use across a variety of on and off line media and it will need to be adapted and tailored to target specific audiences.

The role will be key in supporting the University to raise awareness of who and what Bangor University is, inside and outside Wales, making it relevant for a Welsh, English and wider UK audience.

The postholder will need to be engaged with other areas of the Directorate including communications, recruitment, international and alumni, to support and integrate with their aims and objectives.

Responsibilities:


  • To develop visual content including video and photographs, which tell the University brand story and which comply with and support the University Corporate Identity.
  • To develop core narratives about the University which add value to and reflect the University brand and which are meaningful for their target audience.
  • To creatively develop content to support University marketing and brand building campaigns ensuring that they reach and engage their target audience.
  • To develop and tailor such content for use across different mediums including online and print.
  • To build close working relationships with colleagues in communications, recruitment and international to develop content to support and underpin their areas of work.
  • To work with alumni colleagues to develop content related to alumni and their successes and experience of Bangor University.
  • To develop and manage the University content asset library.
  • To manage external agencies employed to deliver services which contribute to or utilise brand related content.
  • To manage the production of key University publications, including recruitment related publications such as the Undergraduate Prospectus/Course Guide. In all cases to develop content in Welsh and English ensuring a 'Welsh First' approach to all Welsh versions and not simply translating the English version into Welsh.
  • To undertake research into target audience content needs and how different types of content and messages are received and interpreted and present findings to senior managers.
  • To manage budgets and staff as may be assigned from time to time.
  • To be prepared to travel and represent the University at exhibitions and events within the UK as and when required.
  • To be actively engaged with the higher education sector and to be regularly monitoring the activity of competitors to understand Bangor's position within its market and target content development accordingly.

  • The post holder will be expected to participate in performance review and developmental activities.
